CRAFTWISE’S TEMPEST SKILL BUILD

Figure I will post a build….. Any questions you want to ask about Tempests, feel free…. This is for a lv 70 Tempest. (note: 1 free skill points)

1 Holy Strike (Filler)
5 Elec Bolt
5 Rejuvenation (+DNA)
1 Concentration
1 Lesser Heal
1 Salvation
5 Godly Mirror (+DNA)
5 Sleep
5 Survival Instinct (+DNA)
3 Blunt Strike
5 Divine Protection
5 Elec Twister (+DNA -Damage)
1 Soul Depuration
8 Elec Shock (+DNA)
2 Moderate Heal
5 Weapon of God
4 Lightning Mastery
5 Holy Light
5 Lightning Restraint

This is pretty much a solo/party build/ Jack of all Trades build.

Some common Questions…….

1. Should I take Glaring Light?

This question has been asked alot. Indeed at lower levels when you have few AOE’s, it may be a good idea, but at Tempest levels things start to change. If your are like me, solo mostly with AOE parties every so often, its not really needed. Why? Well it just doesnt fit well in the the sleep/AOE cycle. For instance… Fighting 4 mobs usually goes like this…
Pull 4 spiders with Fire Chicken. Round up in bunch…

Dismount

Rejuvenation

Mobs hit you—-

Sleep
Holy Light
Lightning Restraint
Elec Twister
Elec Shock
Rejuvenation

Mobs hit you—

Sleep
Mod Heal
Lesser Heal
Rejuvenation
Elec Shock
Elec Twister
Rejuvenation

Mobs hit you—

Sleep
Holy Light
Lightning Restraint
Elec Shock
Elec Twister
Rejuvenation

All spiders DEAD… As you can see, Glaring Light just doesnt fit in well… Of course, Heals depend on damage you take. There could be a window to cast Glaring Light if you take low damage, but against most Elite mobs, I usually need a heal in at some point. Of note, by grinding like this.. A high Defence is very important.

2. Should I use Mind/Int/HP Xeons?

There has been alot of discussion on this topic. I find mind not very useful for a Tempest. For a lower level Tempest, a Lab C-I for 1 on 1 mobs you want to kill fast and Lab C-C for AOEing. HP is your life. Your armor should be reinforced with HP Xeons and perhaps 1 Defence. In the upper levels, it will prob be best to balance a jewel set with both int/hp xeons for everyday use and a full hp set for pure AOEing and Boss.

3. Hey Craftwise, why no extra skill points in Concentration or Blessed Revelation–

To be honest I find it a waste of skill points. with good gear and now Costumes your magic regen should be fine. If your in an AOE party, the Rad will hit ya with Blessed Revelation and for solo there is plenty of mob drops that give you magic regen or MP.

4. what about Defence?

Defence is VERY important for the Tempest. I see alot of people saying dont take Divine Protection. Saying its only -11 damage.. Let me tell you, every little bit helps. In solo fighting 4 mobs your gonna get hit alot. That one less time you have to cast a heal can save your life. Another reason is that most highlevel Rads do not take the lower Divine Protection. Having this skill is a bonus to a party. Survival Instinct with DNA is -16 damage. Again I find it useful. It may not seem like much, but it does add up. With good armor and these skills you should reach near 1000 DEF at higher levels. Thats equil to say -800 damage if 4 mobs hit you twice per sleep cycle.

5. What heals to take?

I find Rejuvenation really a must for a Tempest. There are many times it can be cast in a AOE/Sleep cycle. It crit heals based on int. (another reason for higher INT.) and it crits alot. You should be seeing 200+ hp recovered per tick with a crit Rejuvenation at higher levels. Lesser heal I kept at 1 because its really not that useful to the Tempest. It has a casting time and will eat up a DNA slot if fully exploited. Moderate Heal should be taken to level 2 because its the best heal you can get as a Tempest.
Party Heal…… I really hated giving this one up. Its very useful with DNA. But I got Elec Twister as im more solo player. If you consider this a must-have skill, your gonna have to give up another skill for it.

6. What weapon to use?

Well that depends… Wand/Shield is best for fighting 1 (Very Hard) mob, and for very high levels when your Lightning Mastery really starts to kick in. Bludgeon is best for AOEing… Why? It adds hp. A Bludgeon will do more damage then your bolts at low-moderate levels. This indeed can be used to fight, but you have to close to a target to use. Thus, for dangerous mobs like NightMare or others where you want to keep your distance, the trusty Wand/Shield works best.
As far as Reinforcements for your weapons…. For a Wand only use Magic Attack Power Xeons. For Magic Shield I usually put one Defence and the rest Int/Con Ruinhorn Remains or just HP if you dont have RH remains. For Bludgeon,… It would be nice if you have two. One with Attack % Xeons and one just with HP for hard mobs/bosses.

Added in Soul Depuration. Very useful skill for raids. Removes DOT from Doom Cheras. Also removes Plugger DOT. Removes a few player DOTs as well, including Thrown Vine. (not really needed til lv66)

Update…

I will be testing a more PvP build soon. Adding such things as Resistance (Curse), Resistance (Elec) to the mix… Resistance (Elec) lv.5 adds a 13% resistance to Electrical attacks, making Radiant bolts even weaker and helping against the massive damage of Lightning Chill Throw. Resistance (Curse) lv.5 adds a 11% resistance. Not as good as Elec Resistance but every bit helps vs those pesky Defilers.

Might add in DivineStrike. Its very weak atm, only adding +60 damage and a weak 10/2 DOT. Against Commanders tho, you have very few options. With Divine Strike, Holy Strike and the Temperian skills you can at least put up a fight…

Will also prob max Lesser party heal to help add points to Ion/FOC.
