Fuikosan’s Grand Chase Alchemist Dungeon Tips

grand chase-alchemistHi everyone. I’ve been using my Mage quite a while while waiting for Arch Ranger to arrive and I thought I’d share a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way. Oh and if you haven’t already, please take a while to check out Zhon’s Video: Zhon’s Arme Video I’m going to quote a few moves here by Zhon so if you want to stick around for the rest of this guide, do watch.

I’m no pro at Alchemist so if you know of this, move along. :P

Note: This guide was created by Fuikosan of ntreev forums.

Why Play Alchemist?

If you’re like me and just got Alchemist, you’re probably be disappointed at how weak, slow and limited your attacks are. A Bomb and a swing-your-pot dash attack doesn’t seem much. Also, everyone seems to be annoyed by your bombs throwing everything in the air (including your teammates). Well give it time and you’ll soon come to love your Alchemist. :D

Alchemist is both a great support and great damage character. Most only get to see her Support side. =P Also, having both jobs helps make things less tedious and boring. Done 10 rounds with your Alchemist? Switch to Mage! Both are just as fun. :)

Things to Know about the Bomb

You have two default attacks: Bombs and your Dash Attack (Swing-Your-Pot). Most would just go use Dash Attack when using Alchemist but you should practice using your bombs. Why? You gain more MP as each bomb has a blast (like Meteor). If it hits, you get 4 equal hits. If a bunch of mobs get hit at the same time = More MP.

The Bomb:

  • Has an AoE blast.
  • Sends everything in the air.
  • Has a Flinch Effect.
  • A Bomb dropped on the floor lasts for 4 seconds.
  • A Bomb dropped while Jumping lasts for 3 seconds.

Also, it’s good for setting up Aerials. With the Flutter, you can set up bombs everywhere like a madman. Control it well, and you can just make things go boom the way you want to. If timed right, you can make a bomb do aerial damage. :P

Flinch? When a mob gets hit by a bomb, they flinch (stunned) for a short duration of time. This can be helpful in stopping mobs in their tracks long enough for you to dash attack or bomb them. If you throw a bomb at an enemy in mid-fall, they will rise up a bit long enough for you to dash in an Aerial Dash attack. (Thanks to Zhon!)

How to use the Bomb

Use of Dash and Platforms makes efficient bomb throwing. Flutter Bombs work better than regular bombs because they go off faster. Learn to flutter all over the map. If you can do this, you can set up bombs just about anywhere. A good place example is in Hell Bridge, in the room just before Gardosen.

It’s also better to start bombing mobs that aren’t being targeted by your teammates. This is to avoid annoying them or messing their combo. Spears and Sword Masters don’t have quite problem with this though as they’re attacks are wide enough to hit flying objects.

Avoid bombing single mobs. Best use your Dash Attack instead.

If you’ve seen the guide, you can use your bombs to move around. I haven’t gotten around to using the Dash Bomb much but the Jump Bomb I have. It’s great for getting up places an Arme normally can’t.

Dark Magic

  1. Booby Trap
Sets up a bomb on the floor that explodes upon impact. Not many use this in Dungeons but the best time to use it is when groups of mobs land together. As soon as they land, use it. The blast will net you huge amounts of MP and dealing damage in the process. The target should be about 3-4 or more mobs for it to become effective.
  2. Cloud Kill
-Cloud Kill is a pretty efficient mob stopper. It’s also a great Aerial Setter. When mobs that are blown up by your bombs (or any classes’s lift attacks) are hit by the cloud, they will keep getting thrown up in the air without going down. This is great for Juggling or stopping pesky Skel Archers.
-You could also choose to just use Dash Attack on a mob caught in the cloud but sometimes this is dangerous because of the increased chances of mobs using their abilities.
    - Cloud Kill oftentimes make mobs use their special abilities like Ammnon’s Hammer Slam(makes you go Jump) continuously so make sure you make them lift up first with your bombs then set the Cloud.
  3. Big Bomb
Your Big Kill skill. Best used against grouped up mobs, super armored mobs, and Mini-Bosses. With good timing, you can bomb a group into the air then use it for Aerial Attack. Better if you could aim at their back and at groups of 4-5 or more mobs. This is so the blasts hit netting you MP (sometimes giving you full MP). (Thanks Kentisu!)

White Magic

  1. Cure
    - Your #1 Heal Skill. I usually just end up healing everyone when the room is cleared and everyone is in the portal. If however, someone is dangerously running low in HP, make sure to give a quick heal.
    - Cure can also be used offensively. If you’re not aware, various skills have a thing called Skill Freeze. If you time your Cure right, you can make a mob stay in the air, while healing your team mates.

Freeze Area: When a player Releases a Mana Attack, all the enemys within a small area around there position become frozen in time temporarly. To the left you can see a rough estimate of about the area about the player that surcomes to this effect. Now thats just a rough estimate, And though I havent studied it at length I believe the size of the area shifts in relation to what exact Mana attack the player is about to preform. The picture to the left is based around the Air Spiral being the mana attack that is about to be used. As you can see the Red blade mech, and the Blue hammer mech jumping above the knight’s position would get frozen as well as the blue hammer mech walking on the stage, While the dark mage would continue to Wonder and roam un effected by the freeze effect.

-To use Cure Efficiently, wait for the duration of the skill to end before casting another Cure. Some cast it almost after they cast their First Cure ending in too much MP used. 2 Bars of Cure is usually enough to fully heal most people.

  2. Saver
    - I don’t usually use Saver. Only when I have extra MP. Lires love this though since they usually attack from afar. This basically casts a Shield for everyone within your reach.
  3. Make Item
    - A must-use skill. Try to make as much items(powerups) as you can. Three MP Restore can help greatly in finishing a Boss quickly.

You can have two or more people get an item by:

-When everyone is in the portal, drop the item in the portal. Make sure that everyone is close for better chance of everyone getting one.
    - Drop the item where a team mate can see it. As soon as they dash in to grab it, grab it for yourself. Sometimes the lag between players makes everyone get it

Here’s a list of items that drop (in case you don’t know what they’re for):

MP Restore – Fully restores party’s MP.
HP Restore – Restores HP (can be used to resurrect someone who just died). Works like a Potion.
Reflect – Reflects magical attacks and arrows. Works on bosses (Kamiki, Kaa’ze, Gardosen). I’m not sure if it Nulls Blast Bomb damage by Cyclops and Gardosen though.
Transparent – Makes you invincible. Mobs will not be able to detect you. Duration is pretty long.
Invincible – You become invulnerable. Doesn’t last long.
Angel Wings – Grants you high jump
Haste – No effect on dungeons.
Money – Zhon tested this and has come with the conclusion that it does not have any effect at all. (Thanks Zhon!)

You can play offensively or defensively as an Alchemist. Offensive Alchemist will make use of their Cloud Kill more while Defensive types will use up all their MP to craft as much items as they can. :P

That’s about it. x_x It’s very wordy so I’ll try and pick up a few screenshots to help you get by haha. :P Hope it helped.
