Insanely’s Dragon Nest Mercenary PVE Build

Explainations of Skills :
Warrior skill tree :
[ Heavy Slash ] – Decent DPS and animation from this skill ( after cancelling it’s animation with another skill ). It’s by far the best skill in terms of growth in the Warrior Skill Tree. In which, the remaining SP should be allocated here.
[ Rising Slash ] – Why not 1-5? Lv6 gives a second hit and also allows me to use Soccer Kick Combo.
[ Drop Kick / Sweeping Kick ] – Useless skills for a pure PVE player, these 2 skills deal very low DPS so I’ve decided to drop them.
[ Relieve ] – Remove debuffs.
[ Highlander ] – 0 SP skill needed to pump this. Party skill, get it!
Mercenary skill tree :
[ Taunting Howl ] – As you sou’ve seen before, I had it at Lv1. However, it’s main use is only for PVP for the flinch. Having 6s debuff is totally useless and etc, what more the max % debuff is only 80% and it’s achievable with Havoc Howl for SDN.
[ Crisis Howl ] – Likewise, another skill just for PVP for flinching people as so it’s dropped as it’s useless for PVE.
[ Dash Upper ] – Skill used as filler to open Soccer Kick Combo.
[ Soccer Kick Combo ] – DPS filler skill.
[ Iron Skin ] – Super armor, defence. Added to Lv3 as growth is awesome.
[ Battle Howl ] – Maxed for party buff skill.
[ Howl Charging ] – Super armor and defence buff for party members.
[ Havoc Howl ] – Debuff enemy, especially for SDN. You NEED it for SDN.
[ Circle Swing ] – Remaining SP is allocated here as it’s an awesome DPS skill, wide range! It’s Lv4 instead of Lv5 because if I added it to Lv5, I would have 4 SP remaining and have nothing to do with it so I’ve lowered it down and decided to pump Toughness for defence.
[ Toughness ] – Maxed with the remaining SP I’ve got on hand. Defence skill.
Debate on ULTIMATE skill :
Cyclone Axe;
Invinciblity frame.
Good crowd control.
Due to it’s long animation, might put you in danger after using the skill.
Longer cooldown than Gigantic Bomber.
Lower damage than Gigantic Bomber.
Gigantic Bomber;
No invincibility frame.
Normal crowd control.
Faster animation, no risk of using it.
Shorter cool down than Cyclone axe, making it versatile.
Higher damage than Cyclone Axe.
It’s been said and tested that Gigantic Bomber is a better DPS dealing skill as compared to Cyclone Axe due to it’s faster cool down and animation. Moreover, using Cyclone Axe MAY put you into risk as the end animation etc.. However, if you can time your Cyclone Axe well, Cyclone Axe can be pretty useful as it has an invincibility frame. Of course, if you’re Lv50 and going for a SDN build, Gigantic Bomber’s the better choice. One thing to note is that, at Lv40 we’re pretty vulnerable so that Cyclone Axe may save us at times.
I’ve been figuring out on which ulti is better and I’ve come to a conclusion that both are pretty decent and it’s your choice on which to pick. I’ll be picking Cyclone Axe though because of it’s invincibility frame and usefulness on other parts of the map.
Skill crests on WHAT to pick :
1) Howl Charging [ cool down decreased ] – Super armor skill and defence skill for party members. Our role is to support and having this plate will help on decreasing the damage etc.. Moreover, it’s maxed!
2) Battle Howl [ buff duration increased ] – Party buff for damage and critical. Likewise, it’s for support and this skill is maxed in my build so with a plate, it’ll be more useful! Also, if you’ve 2 mercenary on your team, you can get an almost permanent Battle Howl buff.
3) Whirlwind [ damage increase ] – The boss slayer skill, best DPS skill you can use for a boss. Nothing much to say, just get it as a priority for damage skill crests.
4) Havoc Howl [ cool down decreased ] – This skill is very much important as a debuff skill for SDN. It’s needed for ‘Rotating Breath’ stage where you’ve to have Havoc Howl to debuff it’s attack or your team will be wiped unless the Main Tank does something about it.
4b) Circle Swing [ cool down decreased ] – Awesome huge AOE skill, good for crowd control. Took the cool down one instead of damage mainly because of it’s awesome crowd control and it’ll be useful. So why did I list a second plate to take instead of taking Havoc Howl? You may not need the Havoc Howl plate, explainations will be below.
Mercenary’s role in SDN :
Our role in SDN is for support ( howls ) and semi-DPS. The main part where people need us is the “Rotating Breath’ stage where Havoc Howl is needed, I’ll explain more about it.
Do note that each Rotating breath is 90 seconds.
The basic set-up of a SDN party for the Havoc Howl part is 1 Force user and 1 Mercenary. The merc will NEED Havoc Howl cool down plate along with the FU’s Beyond time to survive 3 times of SDN’s rotating breath. However, this set-up will only withstand 3 rotating breath.. You would need to survive 4 rotating breath if your DPS is low! In which, as we’re only Lv40.. Our DPS would be pretty low, meaning which we can’t go with this set up.
Second set-up for Havoc Howl part is 1 Force user, 1 Acrobat and 1 Mercenary. The merc will still NEED Havoc Howl cool down plate along with the FU’s Beyond time and Acrobat’s Spirit Boost to withstand 4 times of SDN’s roating breath and maybe more. So obviously, you go with this set-up or the next one I’m going to state.
Third set-up for Havoc Howl part would be 1 Force user and 2 Mercenary. The merc can choose to have Havoc Howl cool down plate or not. This set-up will obviously allow you to withstand 4 rotating breath or more. It’s the safer bet compared to having an acrobat as acrobat will be a little squishy and if the acrobat’s dead, your set-up would be destroyed for the rotating breath stage.
Reviews :
All in all, our Havoc Howl is important for the party so be sure to have it! Remember that survivability is the most important factor in doing SDN. 65000 HP is the bench mark for warriors.. However, I feel that 70000 HP should be the bench mark or maybe even 75000 HP! Also, thanks alot to @Ymint for giving me informations on stuffs and helping me to do some calculations to choose the correct skills and all. Anyway, I’ve nothing much to say anymore so I shall end it here. If you’ve any questions on this new sections, feel free to post and ask me about them or pm me in game. Or… If you just wish to say hello, do so!
Lastly, I hope y’all continue to support me so I’ve the motivation to keep this thread going. Do help me with the bumps and everything! Thanks
