After all the hoopla they created and wussed out and acted as if they didn’t know anything about Twilight. Although there’s a fair chance we wouldn’t be seeing Takipsilim on ABS CBN, it will somehow makes it’s appearance in TV5, the same way the gossip girl remake ended up as lipgloss in TV5. Now all twilight fans can take the sigh of relief, Robbie Patt is still the only formidable Edward. I’m really gonna miss all you guys *sniff*. I’ve having a blast approving your comments. You guys are the BEST!! I never expected that a local station in the Philippines would actually secure the rights of Stephanie Meyer’s “Twilight” Saga. ABS-CBN reportedly paid $1 million to secure the rights for the television series. The tentative title of the series is “Takipsilim”, a literal tagalog translation of “Twilight”. Although the cast hasn’t been confirmed yet, Shaina Magdayao is set to play the role of Isabella Swan and Rayver Cruz will tackle the role of Edward Cullen. The other casts set to play their respective roles are;

Unfortunately this news isn’t so well received by everyone in the Philippines. It’s a riot hanging out in the local forums where majority of the posters are furious and foaming in their mouths. In my opinion I think there’s a misplaced anger and shame. It’s no big deal if the Twilight tv series will look shoddy and lame. To Filipinos who are ashamed to be Filipinos just because of a silly re-make, isn’t that pathetic? Have you heard of Americans ashamed of being Americans just because of a cheesy Hollywood film? I mean what the hell!? So if Manny Pacquiao wins another boxing match or another Filipino makes it big time in Hollywood, those that disowns their country will quickly wear their Filipino pride badge. Posting in other blogs about being ashamed to be Filipino won’t help, why don’t you burn your Filipino passports, birth certificates and just be an alien from no man’s land.
Edit: My statement above may be a bit offensive to some, but I’m expressing my sentiments over the comments like these and several other blogs.
Foreigners will not look down on the country just because of a cheesy and lame adaptation of a popular series. Even if some did, well it doesn’t really matter since they’re not feeding you or sending you money. Please by all means, just flame the TV station, flame the TV executives and just leave out the unpatriotic remarks.
It’s not an embarrassment for the whole country since ABS CBN DOES NOT represent the country. It’s just a TV station and nothing more. Let the TV station suffer the shame and humiliation it so deserves. The station has already paid for the rights and taking big risk in the process. Let’s all be a sport and have a great laugh at it. Let’s just say the ABS CBN succeeds in getting the much needed attention they so badly wanted.

Wala kasing originality ang ABS kasi kaya maraming nagagalit sa remake na ito. They could have made a serial based on the genre but not on the book di ba? Parang tatapatan nila si Stephanie Meyer.
At hello, for 1 million dollars nakuha na nila ang rights? I dont believe it. The Twilight novel is a New York Times Best Seller at ang movie is somehow a commercial success so I dont believe na 1 million dollars lang ito. Its all pure imitation BS. No offense to my fellow Filipinos, but Americans don’t look so bad when they make cheesy films, Manny Pacquiao has nothing to do with Twilight (hahahaha, no offense to the writer, a Filipino boxer isn’t the suitable example for this, and I’m proud of Manny), and Filipinos are somehow, let’s just accept the fact, LAME on some points.
WE’RE NOT ASHAMED TO BE FILIPINOS, WE DO NOT HATE THE COUNTRY (except the people who runs it, hahaha LOL.), WE DON’T HATE ABS-CBN (though technically I do, ’cause I’m Kapuso

By the this decision of ABS-CBN I think we don’t have the power on stopping them, we’re just fans, they’ve got the money and they’re the ones risking it, so all we have to do now is wait, pretend everything will come out right though I wish ABS could still back-out from this decision, and let’s just be happy that we still got Rpattz and Kristen on the REAL one.
There’s nothing wrong about trying-so-hard except facing its consequences and getting hurt. 
I don’t know, I just feel weird about ABS’ decision on this. It would most probably throb on our part, but I guess they don’t care how much it hurts on our part. I don’t want to sound too emotional, hahaha, I’m exaggerating. I guess ABS just doesn’t get the point: Twilight is intended to be an International hit, not a crappy mock.

I guess, it’s okay if ABS will make twilight philippine version. I mean if its really true that they paid for it, then they have the right to do it. And the one who makes the decision is the owner of this book. They trust ABS, that they sold the right to them. They just don’t sit there as take money for the series. I think they have done research on ABS’ capacity.
Why don’t we give ABS a chance, after all, they do quality films.
And this Philippine version, I think, will only be shown in Philipines. Just like “I love Betty la Fea”, which was never shown on TFC.
I some kinda weird thou, but ABS never fails me when it comes to series.

The issue here is not that we are not proud of having been given the opportunity to create a TV adaptation of the series.
The problem lies with the question : can we give justice to the novel (which is a worldwide hit) and the movie (which is another worldwide hit).
First, it will be the issue in the casting. You cnnot erase the reality that people ABSOLUTELY will compare the cast to their Hollywood counterparts. Will they be able to live up to the expectations?
Second, special effects, can our usual TV special effects cope up with the Hollywood special effects. This is possible BUT will cost A LOT. We dont want this Twilight series to look good at the start and then degrade itself once it got the “viewers” (as what happens with most series here in the PH ). Can ABS maintain the quality (I dont mean just quality, I mean the quality that can COMPETE with that of the international series) all throughout the length of the adaptation?
Third, which is the largest question of them all… Can the writers/staff/director or whoever will run the adaptation prevent themselves from using the standard “Filipino teleserye formula” to gather viewers for the series? If they will use the usual formula (the one Filipino loves, where the protagonist suffers in the start then rises and succeeds etc etc dont forget the usual amnesia that comes with almost every Filipino series) they will absolutely ruin the whole novel, and they will get more than those rants, they might even be wasting a lot of money.

i think one of the reasons why filipinos are hating this right now is because readers or should i say elitists do not want to book to be brought to the level for the masses. considering that the twilight series’ audience are middle-to-rich class filipino teenagers, it must be a pain for them to see the series being appreciated by “jologs”

Im not in any way annoyed that a TV Station in the Philippines is doing to remake or a series based on Twilight what I find extremely disappointing is the fact that its Twilight for crying out loud! of all things…. and reading people bash and flame on how the Filipino casts are ugly or not worthy or what ever. No offence to TWilight fans but you guys are complaining about originality when the story of Twilight is so unoriginal itself, its diseased with plot holes,shallow developments if there are any coupled by extremely talentless actors. I wont even say ,much about the casted Edward guy – He is hairy, scary looking awkward and lack the supposed grace,charms and BEAUTY dat the vampires in the so called “book” are supposed to posses. Therez a DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Angsty,Wild Charms and Scary Hairy Freak of Nature— So for those bashing the casts and Filipinos… well u might want to pause,think and think again. Contemplate, read the book again, watch the movie and process everything without bias and put the innerfangirl or boy off better yet, in a brief coma. first and tell us why Takipsilim is going to ruin and ripp off the already wrecked and unoriginal Twilight.

It annoys me that ABS is doing this just because it was a popular international hit. All my friends have agreed that this is just another desperate cry for attention that won’t even work. I’ve been told that this’ll just “ruin Stephenie Meyer’s work” and “destroy the entire story”. We’ve also become very disappointed in other Pinoy adaptations like Lipgloss because they are very poorly done. If you want to make adaptations of internationl movies or show, do at least half as good as the orginal thing to save yourself from even a tiny bit of the embarrassment you’re gonna get.

I’m Filipino but real or not, im so praying for this to not push thru. First of all, they need to come up with new materials and not remakes or franchises. This goes to abs-cbn and gma7 as well. Filipinos are really creative and very good film and tv makers. Look at the Filipino Classics, Sharon Cuneta or Julie Vega or even Mara Clara and Encantadia. 2nd, We can do so much better than that!
But look at the bright side, they DID made it on PerezHilton. That’s GOT to count for something at least.

Obviously, (to: Face It) These peoples’ reactions are indignant because the novel that they have grown to love is about to be remade/produced by ABS-CBN, a network that could not be entirely trusted to do so. Oh, well, let’s just say most network companies to be general. Evidences are everywhere. It’s not Philippine Media we’re ashamed about. It’s the futile and almost pitiful attempts to achieve something beyond they’re capabilities. Start step-by-step, for crying out loud. Being original would be a good starting point.
Twilight, as you say and i also believe in, is, figuratively speaking, also human, therefore loopholes, glitches and non-originalities are inevitably present. For arguments sake, also all other literature pieces are “human”.
I also think that some are going too far in there comments. But how would you react if you love an idea so much only to see it in the hand of someone you don’t trust? Wouldn’t you be indignant too?

I am a Filipino and I’m proud to be one. I do not hate takipsilim or anything. Its just the idea that ABS CBN would have to remake twilight into a tv series that bothers me. If they are really pursuing this, then they should be able to give justice to the book (not the film). It will be watched and discussed by a lot of people since the book is an international bestseller. They should be able to present it well to the millions of twilight series fans. Because if they can’t, then it’ll be a shame for them.
Plus, why do they have to imitate twilight in the first place? I agree to the fact that classic pinoy teleseryes are great. Why not make just another original pinoy tv series that will be a hit and make Filipinos proud? Just a thought…Well, i hope it won’t push thru,.if it did, then we’ll see…

TO (Leslie)It is true that nothing is perfect but I am not arguing nor am I expecting Twilight or any other novels/books to be but for the sake of credibility or even for mere sense, I meant that there is not one grounded nor feasible reason as to why the hype about Twilight is backed by a story with substance nor SENSE. Please do not include the idea that all literature is human. WE are not talking about whether it is or not liable to mistakes but to the least, Stories and NOvel whether it be fiction or not needs logic,purpose,development and a well outlined backbone. Somethings of which I am saying that Twilight lacks. Credously, U cant say Twilight is on the ranks of Lord of the Rings or those other Fictional Novels/Series now.

i never thought that there would be already thousands of people who would react about this TAKIPSILIM but i guess its not a big deal because its not like the ABS-CBN tried to make a FILIPINO VERSION for the first time how about the Pinoy Big Brother im sure it did make a great hit here in PHILIPPINES and im sure that their are also american directors who also made an american version from asian movies.i know how many people who ADORE TWILIGHT that also includes me both the books and the movie.Robert and Kirsten is considered to be one of the greatest love team in show business but i guess Rayver, Shaina, and Cathy garcia Molina are not that bad actor actress and director. Rayver and Shaina both started acting at a very young age and im pretty sure that they could both portray their roles very well and so with the other cast.it doesn’t mean that they tried to make a filipino version they are already called COPYCATS. its not about us, filipinos, its about the name that twilight series holds. I’m born here in the philippines and i love it here and proud of my race. But the idea of having this remake kills me! The story is very wonderful and i admit i am a twilighter and i’m so crazy about it. I’m so sure and somehow disturbed that whatever the outcome would be a total disaster and what’s worst is that they will really ruin the story like they did on all remakes. I don’t even care to watch them. This story obviously doesn’t fit the philippine setting and even the cast for GOD’S sake. So please before people get so humiliated by themselves watching the awful remake, stop the production. Lets just do our best to find other stories that are for us, that are us, filipinos. Twilight holds it name as not a corny one so don’t dare to make it that. Ok?

by the way, i just want to add, converting english lines of edward (which makes the book and movie spark to people) to Tagalog would be so like a disaster, a total blast of a nuclear bomb. Trust me! its not who will play the part… its not because ABS-CBN will do it (although they can’t make a good tv series either).. its not because Filipinos are remaking it..
Even Summit’s adaptation of the novel is not good enough for me..

Look, it’s not that we are NOT proud of being Filipino’s just because we are ragging on this outrageous idea, it’s just that we have seen–of course–works of the Filipino’s and so far, we are NOT impressed that’s why we react violently on this. The movie, and the book, are in great need of undeniably perfect special effects to make it all work. The special effects on the shows over here in this country are very third-class, like the country itself. And another, the cast. you have got to be kidding me. Robert Pattinson is Edward Cullen. Edward is close to perfection, and we all know Robert isn’t that close, but he is somehow close enough to suit the role since there is no such thing as a perfect guy, right? Rayver Cruz—? I could barely breathe out the name. I mean, are you–are you JOKING?
And Shaina Magadayao is not good for the role. She suits the name: ISABELA MARIA PATO. Not Isabella Marie Swan. And if you know the tagalog word for Swan then replace Pato with it because that’s how far my vocab on this language went.
Odds are, NONE of the characters are close enough to reach the positions of the cast from Hollywood.
The movie was a complete disappointment for some–me counted–and seeing the shows and movies made by the FILIPINOS will certainly NOT make it better. I mean come ON. Whatever. This idea sucks and it will suck forever.

As I was browsing through the fs bulletin this morning, I almost choked over my coffee upon reading an announcement about the PH version of twilight-TAKIPSILIM. I was so outraged upon knowing this because the people behind this lunatic idea have made the Filipino image as a great laughing stock again. They have proven to the world again how good Filipinos are at plagiarism making us “all” look cheap and trying hard copycats even though some of us aren’t. I mean why couldn’t they just make another fresh concept for a good movie? Why still imitate the idea of another when it had already been seen by the people? So they think it would boom- for me of course, it wouldn’t. Why would people want to see what had been seen? The people behind this moronic whimsy are not only embasrrasing the FILIPINO race by their cheesy and trying hard re-makes but are also disgracing the high norms of a quality movie. This TAKIPSILIM movie is indeed the newest in the line of Philippine re-makes that had proven to be unsuccessful, nonsensical and hilarious to the eyes of men. Can’t they see the point that there are just factors in foreign films that just don’t suit our culture and beliefs that if immitated would sound cheesy and TH-copied obviously resulting to another catastrophe?
I believe we Filipinos are talented and creative in our own ways but by imitating the Twilight film- I just don’t see the true Filipino talent. Somewhere somehow, I know that there still a lot of brilliant juans left undiscovered that if given the chance to shine would surely make a great difference not just in the movie industry but in general- meaning all fields will be covered. It’s just so disheartening to hear that we Filipinos are known globally not because of our rich values but because of our being great imitators of a myriad of things that proved us to be low quality, inefficient, and incompetent. Plagiarism definitely makes us least than who we really are that is why there is a need for it to be stopped-as soon as possible.

I do think that JAKE CUENCA would make a BETTER Edward Cullen since I like him, too. Because he has a BRITISH blood, that I personally find quite arousing, lol.
And also, none of them thought it would be a cool thing if ABS-CBN does this shitty remake of the–emphasis on the following capitalized words–MOST-ANTICIPATED MOVIE OF THE YEAR. It had been one hell of a disappointment for me since I already read the whole saga, and it did NOT live up to my expectations. And, quite frankly, the shows on here? Poor. Not average, not awesome. .,.well, if ABS CBN can portray the twilight movie into a new one..thats okey…all i can say is that…we will just wait for the trailer or something before arguing and concluding things…we are not born prophets..right?!…the management of ABS CBN knows what are they doing and I believe they will not spend such large amonut of money for a WASTE!

oh please.. a bunch of pa-class, over-acting, obnoxious, “Filipino-hating” Filipinos over here.
First of, I know, this was confirmed to be untrue by ABS BUT let’s just assume that this was true.
So what?!?!
It’s not like the show is intended for YOU Twilight fans. It would have probably be a way to introduced the story to the Filipino masses.
Ans why is it automatically labeled as baduy or gaya-gaya when Filipinos produced remakes?
I don’t hear anyone accusing the US of being gaya-gaya for doing a Betty La Fea remake.
And let’s just say it turned out to be campy.. who cares!?! can’t you watch it for laughs?
Dragonball live action is such a stupid excuse for a rip-off but still, people will watch it “for laughs”..
Why can’t the same be applied to Takipsilim..
Let’s just try to be objective in judging our own.
Kung matalino kang tao, alam mo na kapag gawang Pinoy ay hindi kagad pangit. Pag-isipan muna bago maghusga.

Okay, this is getting weird!!! First they do a cheap version of ugly betty, then a filipino version of gossip girl, now twilight (with a very literal translation)…what the effin hell’s next? A filipino SIMPSONS? God…i love that I’m filipino but our movie industry is disgusting. If they need story ideas, they shouldnt do remakes… HEY, THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO SELL THEIR AWESOME STORY IDEAS.

i wonder if you have the same qualm against the US’ Ugly Betty? Probably not, coz it’s american..
and so what with the literal translation of the title? The story of Twilight is very much dependent and symbolic of it’s title. What’s wrong with “Takipsilim”?

Hey! guys I heard there is a filipino version of twilight in the Philippines. you know what this would be a real disaster for all of the twilight fans out here I’m from Vancouver,Canada a Filipino too Hope my Friends would never see the Filipino version of Twilight on TFC, I saw the characters and they suck they dont have originalities.
Guys pls. I beg you all, you dont want this to go into TFC it would really ruin the story and the reputation of the Philippines, Pls. support no to takipsilim..You know what i feel..if you are really loyal twilight fans.thanks!

i really love Twilight. this movie is super great that we watched it several times with some of my friends. ‘
