Aion Online Guide Assassin Tips

Aion Online Assassin class is a Daeva killing specialist that follows the Star of Death. After hiding itself, an Assassin quietly approaches its enemy and aims for vital spots to inflict great amounts of damage instantly. While their defensive capability is relatively low, Assassins possess exceptional evasion skills.

Aibelle’s Aion Assassin Tips and Tricks

‘A good offense is the best defense’, is our motto.

The Assassin is fairly weak, but when it’s played well, it can be a killing machine. There have been a lot of discussions about the Assassin being ‘underpowered’ , and Ncsoft even lowered the crit rate (2.5 – 2.3) Despite of that, the Assassin still stayed powerful.

If you play an Assassin, you probably noticed you die a lot more than others. Though you have move HP than Sorcerers, they can root or sleep an enemy when they’re in danger. We have the smallest chance of survival of all classes, in addition because of our low armor and mostly offensive skills. That’s why it’s so important to know what you are doing. You have to observe your surroundings and don’t take too big risks. Here are some important tips for an Assassin to survive:

  • Do not attack groups. Even two enemies are too much. When you fight someone 1v1, and there’s coming someone else, get away as quick as possible.
  • Stay close to an Artifact, Fortress or Guard Tower. If you are close to dying, you can rush there and safely rest.
  • Pay attention to a mob’s aggro range. You can see it by clicking on the mob. Watch your minimap, you’ll see a radar surrounding the mob. A mob can’t look everywhere at the same time, so the rotating line indicates where it’s looking. If you’re lucky, you can walk past the mob without being seen.
  • Don’t get too close to guard towers of the other race. They have a really big aggro range, and do a lot of damage.
  • Some mobs can detect you in stealth, so pay attention to this. Sometimes you can conclude it by the way it looks, or the name. For example: ‘Black Claw Searcher’ can see you in Stealth, such as an ‘Oculazen’. And Oculazen is a round-shaped mob, with eyes all over his body. It’s pretty obvious he will see you if you’re in stealth.

You won’t get far with only survival, you also have to kill enemies, ofcourse. Here are a few useful tips for PvE:

  • Make sure you always have a Bow with you, which you can switch with your daggers. That way you can pull mobs out of bigger groups. Be sure that the other mobs surrounding your target won’t help, though.
  • Stealthing is not very useful when attacking mobs, using ‘Dash’ is easier and faster.
  • Most of the times you can solo Campaign quests 2 levels below the advised level. If you’re with a Group, you can even start at a lower level.

If you don’t really concentrate on PvE, and you spend most of your time in the Abyss, here are some tips for PvP:

  • Pay attention to your enemy’s skills. Is your enemy casting a powerful skill, make sure you interrupt him, or use one of your evasion skills (Focused Evasion, Aethertwisting etc.)
  • When you want to backstab someone, you better not use ‘Ambush’. Use ‘Hide’, walk to the back of your enemy and then use ‘Surprise Attack’. If your enemy is running away, then you can use ‘Ambush’. This way you’ll stun the target, and you can finish it.
  • Try to attack enemies who are attacking mobs. It may seem cowardly, but it is the best way to kill someone. If you run into someone, he is already prepared for your attack. This way he can run away, activate his buffs or even go in Stealth. Also, when it’s attacking a mob, most of the times it has has low HP. Try attacking when the mob is still alive, this way your enemy has to focus on two enemies at the same time.
  • Yes, events are useful. At some events you’ll get consumables, where you get new abilities or a boost for a certain amount of time. Use them well. For example, you get ‘Oculazen candies’ for the Halloween Event. When you eat them, you can detect enemies in Stealth. Pretty useful, especially when you don’t yet have the skill for it.
  • If you’re in a Group, try to stick with it at much as possible. If there’s a tank in your party, be sure you attack after the tank. This way, you won’t get any damage most of the time, so you can perfom all your skills.
  • Know your enemy. You have to have basic knowledge of the skills of each class. This way, you’ll know what to do and what not to do.
  • Observe your enemy. If you have enough time, and you’re somewhere safe, search him/her on the official Aion site. This way, you can estimate that you can attack safely without dying.

Though we have relatively weak armor, we can socket it with Manastones. Try to socket as much as possible with ‘Physical Critical Hit’ and ‘Evasion’ stones, these will upgrade your strongest stats.
Assassins level pretty fast, but sometimes you’re stuck cause you’ve done all the quests from your level. Grinding is the only option. You can do Repeatable quests, but you won’t get much EXP from those. The best mobs for Assassins to grind on are ‘Glass cannons’, mobs with really low HP but strong attacks. Because we can evade attacks, those mobs are ideal. They die within a few seconds, and you didn’t lose much HP. Here come a few grinding sports from lv 10 till lv 35:

10 – 14: Altgard Ice Lake ; Ice Crasaurs
14 – 18: Moslan Forest ; Karnifs
18 – 20: Impetusium ; Spirits
18 – 20: Black Claw Outpost ; Black Claw Shamans (Group required)
20 – 25: Brusthonin ; Wailing Banshees in Havenjark Farm
25 – 29: Nochsana Training Camp ; Abyss Instance
29 – 33: Beluslan ; Black Plains
33 – 35: Beluslan ; Manisha’s Nest

Well, that’s it! I hope you learned something from this guide. Remember, those are just tips, I’m not telling you that you have to do it to be a good sin, it’s just from my own experience. If this guide wasn’t useful to you at all, I can’t help it, don’t be mad at me.
